Re: Recognition
“No free man shall be arrested or imprisoned, or dispossessed of his property, or declared an outlaw, or exiled, or executed in any manner whatsoever, and we will not act against him nor send anyone against him, without a lawful judgment of his peers and in accordance with the law of the land.”, extract from the Magna Carta of King Jean Sans-Terres, 1215.
Excellency Mr. Prime Minister,
Your accession as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, on July 05, 2024, appeared to us, but also to the refugees and asylum seekers in your country, as well as to stateless people throughout the world, as a lighthouse in the storm. Indeed, having followed with anguish and amazement the Refugeegate scandal in which asylum seekers were to be re-exiled to Rwanda in an inhuman and immoral manner, we exulted with joy when you sounded the end of this bewildering and tragic circus. We’d like to thank you and the whole Labour family for closing this dark chapter that has brought such shame to Britain, such harm to humanity, and eclipsed 800 years of Anglo-Saxon pride with your Magna Carta of Freedoms.
We are the Rwanda Movement for the Republic and Democracy (MRD), a political platform, committed to work for a change of government which has been in power in Rwanda for the past 30 years. We are determined to eradicate all forms of injustice, oppression and inhumanity characteristic of the oppressive RPF regime headed by Paul Kagame.
Excellency Prime Minister, if Paul Kagame managed to cooperate with your predecessor until the latter paid him hundreds of millions of pounds, it is because the individual is a master in the art of manipulation. We are convinced that a large part of this sum is now being used to destabilize the sub-region. In fact, the whole Kagame system is built on three (3) pillars, namely lies, divisionism (divide ut imperas) and terror: he claims to have stopped the genocide when it was he who provoked and accelerated it in order to easily take over Rwanda; he claims to have developed Rwanda when there is a real gulf between the capital Kigali and deepest Rwanda. An inveterate divisionist, Kagame has provoked a veritable humanitarian tsunami by instigating all these wars in the sub-region ostensibly to help the Tutsi community. He has deliberately trapped the Rwandan people by instituting a kind of “original sin” against the Hutu ethnic group. Finally, to say that this man is a terrorist is a truism: consider the attack he carried out on April 6, 1994 on the plane carrying the Rwandan and Burundian heads of state, Juvénal Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira, an act unanimously regarded as the detonator of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
This, in a nutshell, is the hidden face of Kagame, the shameless, unscrupulous man who, in the 21st century, dares to get himself elected for a 99.15% illegal mandate after dismissing all credible challengers. Is it with a leader of this kind that the Rwandan people could return to historical truth, reconciliation, peace and national harmony? Certainly not. Is it with this initiator, actor and driving force behind the war of aggression against the DRC – aimed at plundering its wealth, with more than 15 million civilians now dead – that the Great Lakes sub-region of Africa could renew with the right to peace and concord of these peoples who have for centuries shared the joys and misfortunes of existence and the feeling of their cohesion? Certainly not!
Your Excellency Mr. Prime Minister, according to UN reports and the most credible human rights organizations, Paul Kagame is the greatest criminal in office as head of state. We therefore fear that he will use the current illegal 5-year mandate to grant himself another one in 2029, and thus be able to rule Rwanda until 2034. That would be too much injustice, suffering, massacres and human tragedy in Rwanda and the sub-region. This is why we recommend you:
- To use all legal means to recover all funds allocated to Kagame as part of the Refugeegate scandal. We fear that British taxpayers’ money will continue to finance the war of aggression, pillage, massacres and genocide in Eastern DRC.
- To give effect to the duty of solidarity as a cardinal value of the Commonwealth to accompany the muzzled and oppressed Rwandan people in their quest for freedom, truth and justice, until such time as a genuine rule of law can finally emerge in Rwanda, with a reconciled, fairer and safer Rwandan society.
- To devise and implement a more humane, fairer and more supportive policy towards the peoples of the Great Lakes sub-region of Africa, so that these wars of depredation can be brought to an end once and for all, with the result that today life expectancy is plummeting in this veritable no-man’s-land, where the law of the jungle and the machines of death reign supreme.
Please accept, Excellency Prime Minister, the assurance of our highest consideration.
Washington, July 22, 2024
Mrs. Christine COLEMAN
President of MRD
