The Rwandan Movement for the Republic and Democracy (MRD) commends and sincerely thanks the member states and signatories of the International Contact Group (ICG) for their firm and principled stance regarding the escalation of violence in the Great Lakes region. Their renewed commitment to peace, regional stability, and the protection of civilian populations is greatly appreciated.
The MRD strongly condemns Rwanda’s aggression in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a reckless policy that endangers the entire region. The Rwandan government, in its continued defiance, openly disregards President Trump and the international community, undermining the very commitments and resolutions it claims to uphold.
In the face of this dangerous trajectory, the MRD reaffirms that a credible, democratic, and peaceful alternative exists for Rwanda. We stand ready to assume our responsibilities to restore national unity, ensure lasting peace, and contribute meaningfully to regional stability.
For a just, responsible, and peaceful Rwanda.
Rev. Christine Coleman
President of the MRD
