January 15, 2024 – No. 001/01/2024
The Movement for the Republic and Democracy (MRD) is deeply concerned about the deterioration of the political and security situation in the Great Lakes Region as well as the risk of its conflagration following Rwanda’s aggression against its neighbour the Democratic Republic of Congo on the one hand and, on the other hand, Rwanda’s incessant provocations against Burundi.
Despite the efforts of various regional actors and the international community to restore peace and stability, the regime of Paul Kagame continues its expansionist wars and plundering of natural resources in DRC as well as the destabilization of other neighboring countries including Burundi, under the cover of terrorist groups such as the M23 and RED Tabara.
We call on all Rwandans to condemn, with one voice, the regime and the hegemonic ideology of the RPF as well as its leader, the tyrant Paul Kagame, while standing in solidarity with our Congolese and Burundian brothers.
We demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Rwandan army forces from all Congolese territory and an immediate end to Rwanda’s support of the M23 and RED Tabara terrorist groups.
MRD calls on the Rwandan Government for the immediate and unconditional extradition of the perpetrators of the 2015 coup attempt, to Burundi; who continue to carry out criminal and terrorist activities on Burundian soil, in order to restore peace between the two brotherly countries.
We commend the peace efforts of the regional leaders of the countries, and of SADC in particular. We call on all Rwandans, Republicans and Democrats, to combine our efforts and do everything in our power to put an end to the criminal regime of the RPF, and restore lasting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Washington D.C, January 15th 2024
Mrs Christine Coleman
President of the MRD
